Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo Hosts Seminar on IT Human Resources: Highlights Collaboration with Japan

Today (17 April 2024) Bangladesh Embassy, Tokyo has organized a seminar on the Human Resources of Bangladesh in IT sector at the Embassy Auditorium. The seminar was attended by around 35 IT company representatives.
Ambassador Md. Daud Ali addressed the seminar. In his welcome speech, he said that we have gathered here at a time when the global economy is undergoing transformation. Trade tensions, shifting supply chains, and demographic pressures are redefining our growth strategies. In this evolving landscape, the IT sector remains resilient – delivering consistent growth, high returns, and global demand.
He added that Japan, a global leader in innovation, is forecast to face a labor shortage of 11 million by 2040, including a shortfall of 850,000 IT professionals. Japan is now placing greater emphasis on welcoming international talent into its workforce. This presents a unique opportunity for collaboration between our nations.
He added that Bangladesh’s ICT sector has seen remarkable growth over the past decade. we’ve expanded digital infrastructure, improved connectivity, and heavily invested in skill development. Today, we have 9 Hi-Tech Parks, over 100 IT training centers, nationwide 4G coverage and 5G rollout underway, and also digital inclusion programs like “One Student, One Laptop”
Our startup ecosystem has also flourished – growing from fewer than 100 to over 1,200 active startups in the past decade. These companies have raised nearly USD 1 billion in funding, 76% of which came from venture capital.
What’s truly inspiring is the global recognition of Bangladeshi IT talent. Our engineers are contributing to leading global companies like NASA, Google, SpaceX, NVIDIA, Microsoft, Facebook, Netflix, Apple, and Qualcomm and what not.
In Japan, a good number of Bangladeshi engineers are working at SoftBank, NTT, NEC, Toyota, Fujitsu, Canon, and beyond.
He further said that, Bangladesh offers thriving two-way opportunities for Japanese businesses: first, Japan can invest in Bangladesh, leveraging a vibrant and skilled workforce; second, Japan can invite Bangladeshi talent to contribute directly to its economy.
The seminar was addressed by Mr. Inoue, President of Dplanet Co. Ltd., and Mr. Moinul Tahmid of Japan Bangla Bridge Recruiting Agency Ltd. among others. The embassy officials were also present in the seminar.##
